Our First Trip back to Minnesota

What is this white stuff???
Sledding with Skylar at the Tree farm. I think they were supposed to put the tree on the sled once they cut it down.
Spencer and Lauren were so excited to see Malaya. They were used to seeing her just about everyday, so they both were missing her! We had such a nice visit and the kids picked up like they hadn't been gone a day.
I love you Papa.
I wonder how long it is going to take to shovel all of this snow off the deck?

After our trip back to Minnesota to celebrate Christmas with our family, I decided that I needed a better way to keep in touch with everyone. Blogs seem to be the newest thing, so I decided to give it a try.

This trip back was bitter(cold) sweet. The sweet part was seeing everyone that we miss very much. The kids were very excited to be back to everyone they know and love. They had a great time visiting family and friends. We were able to celebrate Christmas with our family while we were there, so we got the best of both worlds. We get to live in Arizona, and celebrate Christmas in the snow. Now the bitter part. We all ended up sick. As for next year, we suggested Christmas in Arizona. It is easier to got north 2 hours in Arizona, get our fill of snow and return to the warmer weather.

One of Spencer's favorite parts of getting back to Minnesota was the snow. That is all he could talk about before we got there. The first thing that he did once he got to Becker was go to the Hardware store with Papa Jim to buy a shovel. He couldn't wait to get out there and shovel the snow. He worked on clearing off the deck at Papa and Grandma's house until it got to dark to do it anymore. It was the first thing that he wanted to do again when he got up the next morning.

Papa Jim waited for Spencer to get the Christmas tree, so that was a big treat for him. We got a real tree for our house, not something a lot of people do in AZ. But, we had to go to a tree lot to get get it. We have always cut down our own tree at a tree farm, so Spencer was disapointed that we did not get to do that. After my parents got wind of his disapointment with getting our tree they decided to wait to get theirs until Spencer was home to help. He had a great time getting the tree with all the boys!

Another big highlight was the trip to Minneapolis to go to Macy's and to the Holidazzle Parade with Siemers. This is something Spencer has done with them for the last three years. This was Lauren's first time and she seemed to enjoy it too.

Thanks to everyone who made this trip back to Minnesota a memorable one!

Lauren had a great time with Lily and Kaeleigh. Lauren was out a few times last winter, but she did not remember the snow. She couldn't get enough of it. She wasn't bothered by the cold at first, but by the end of the trip every time we went outside she was saying "mommy cold".
Kaeleigh and Spencer are the best of buds, so this trip home was especially special for them. Spencer misses Kaeleigh everyday, so he was very excited to be able to spend time with her!
A picture of all the girls at Christmas at Grandma and Papa's house. They all enjoy being together.
